TYLER, Texas — Three East Texas healthcare providers were named among the Modern Healthcare's 2024 Best Places to Work in Healthcare.
Modern Healthcare named 150 companies and organizations to the list to honor employers who empower workers to provide patients and customers with the best possible care, products and services.
HealthFirst TPA in Tyler, Baylor Scott & White Texas Spine & Joint Hospital in Tyler and UT Health Quitman were among the organizations mentioned in the list.
Modern Healthcare will reveal a ranked order of two groups (providers and insurers and another for supplier companies) on Oct. 10 at the Best Places to Work in Healthcare Awards Gala in Nashville as well as an Oct. 14 magazine supplement.
"With all the economic uncertainty, staffing challenges, and folks wanting more flexible work setups, every company has to get clever about how they attract and hold onto talent," said Dan Peres, president of Modern Healthcare. "The winners of the 2024 Best Places to Work awards really get it. They show us how vital it is to understand what employees want and need right now. With healthcare shifting so much, finding the right people is a top priority, and the winners know that keeping their team happy is the key to business success."
HealthFirst is a third party administrator that created customized, self-funded healthcare benefit plans based on the needs of employers. The group, which is a division of UT Health East Texas, has won the award for four consecutive years.
“Where people work has a great impact on their quality of life and we are proud to be recognized by team members again this year as a best place to work,” said Donald Baker, UT Health East Texas regional president. “HealthFirst’s fourth year earning this recognition is a testament to our ongoing commitment to build a culture of belonging, and we are excited to see the impact our culture is making across UT Health East Texas each day.”
Baylor Scott & White Texas Spine & Joint Hospital CEO Tony Wahl said they are honored to be recognized as a top employer by Modern Healthcare.
"Our staff tenure is a significant contributor to the hospital’s success,” Wahl said. “Welcoming, well-trained staff and expert physicians combine to produce satisfied patients. We are fortunate to have all three."
