CANTON, Texas — Three people accused of stealing packages from porches early Wednesday morning were arrested in Canton.
Ashley Nicole Hulshouser, 36, Dylan Hulshouser, 26, and Canyen Robinson, 22, are charged with engaging in organized criminal activity.
Canton Police Department Sgt. Michael King said all three worked together to steal packages from house in the area.
According to the Texas Penal Code, a person engages in organized criminal activity if they participate in criminal activity, such as murder, robbery, burglary or assault, with three or more people or as a member of a criminal street gang.
Because the trio is accused of mail theft (a Class A misdemeanor), the engaging in organized crime charge is considered a state jail felony, according to the law.
In Texas, if a person is found guilty of a state jail felony, they could face confinement in a state jail between six months and two years. This type of offense could also be punished by a fine not to exceed $10,000.
