LONGVIEW, Texas — A 23-year-old man accused of killing another man Friday morning in Longview has been charged with murder.
Eddie Floyd Hill Jr., of Gilmer, was arrested Friday in Gilmer for the shooting death of 20-year-old Dequalin Vaughn, of Longview. Vaughn died in the hospital after he was shot in the 3100 block of McCann Road around 10 a.m., according to Longview police.
Detectives were able to identify Hill as the suspect and also learned he was wanted on felony charges stemming from a case in Marshall. Hill was later located in Gilmer and booked into the Upshur County Jail.
In addition to the murder arrest, Hill is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and deadly conduct for the case out of Marshall, police said.
"The Longview Police Department would like to thank the Marshall Police Department, Harrison County Violent Crime Task Force, The Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Gilmer Police Department for their assistance in apprehending this suspect," LPD said in a Facebook post.
