2 dead, 1 seriously injured in Upshur County crash

The crash remains under investigation.

UPSHUR COUNTY, Texas — Two people are dead and one other was seriously injured following a three-vehicle crash in Upshur County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, troopers responded to a wreck on Monday, Nov. 6, around 11 a.m. on SH 155 at the Bluebell Rd. intersection.

The preliminary investigation revealed a semi, driven by Jeffery Mitchell, 59, of DeKalb, was traveling north on SH 155 behind a Chevrolet Impala, driven by Elijah Auld, 20, of Gilmer.

DPS says Auld was slowing down to make a left turn onto Bluebell Rd. at the same time a Honda Civic, driven by Kailey Wildt, 37, of Gilmer, was traveling south SH 155. Officials say Auld was yielding to Wildt's vehicle when Mitchell failed to control his speed and collided with Auld's vehicle, sending it into oncoming traffic. The Chevrolet was then struck by Wildt's Honda.

Auld and a passenger, identified as Kinzy Jones, 21, of Gilmer, were pronounced dead at the scene. Wildt was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Mitchell was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
