PALESTINE, Texas — Two people are now in custody after evading police in a stolen vehicle.
According to the Palestine Police Department, an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop Friday at the intersection of Fifth Street and W. Oak Street on a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Anderson County. The driver did not pull over, leading to a pursuit.
Officials with the Palestine P.D. said the vehicle came to a stop near Lelia Street and Oxford Road, hitting several other vehicles along its path. The driver, who police identified as Connor Victor Schwab, 19, of Palestine, ran away on food, leaving behind a firearm that was also reported as stolen in Anderson County.
A passenger in the vehicle identified as Susannah Elaine Toudouze, 19, of Palestine, was detained at the scene. Officers found what they suspect to be marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the passenger compartment where Toudouze was seated as well as suspected cocaine in the back seat.
Schwab was arrested later near Shady Oaks Street and found with suspected ecstasy, police said.
Both individuals have been booked into Anderson County Jail. Schwab has been charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest, evading arrest with a vehicle, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, theft of a firearm, unlawful carrying of a weapon and three charges of an accident involving damage to a vehicle>=$200. Toudouze has been charged for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
