CHEROKEE COUNTY, Texas — An 18-wheeler crash has shut down a busy highway in East Texas.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, U.S. 79 at the Cherokee-Anderson county line is closed in both directions after a semi was involved in a wreck at the Neches River Bridge, just south of Jacksonville. Two people were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The roadway is expected to reopen around 5 p.m.
Drivers should avoid the area and use an alternate route if possible.
