1 person, pets killed after house fire in Henderson County

"Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the deceased," Payne Springs Fire and Rescue said.

HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas — One person and some pets were killed after a house fire in Henderson County Monday morning. 

According to Payne Springs Fire and Rescue,  the fire happened in the Cherokee Shores community around 7 a.m. Firefighters saw a large smoke column and crews attempted an interior attack, but they had to back out due to heat conditions. 

One person died and some of the pets inside the home were killed as well. Three residents were able to escape before fire departments arrived. PSFR said there was a live power line arcing in the front yard when they arrived. 

"Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the deceased," Payne Springs Fire and Rescue said. 

The fire is under investigation by the Henderson County Fire Marshal’s Office.
