POLICE: 1 injured in major two-vehicle crash involving freightliner in Nacogdoches

The driver injured in the crash is still believed to be in critical condition, according to Nacogdoches P.D.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Law enforcement is investigating a major crash involving a freightliner that left one person injured on Tuesday.

According to the Nacogdoches Police Department, officers responded to a major crash involving two vehicles on the 2300 block of Douglass Road around 8:18 p.m. on Tuesday. Officials say a freightliner pulling a flatbed trailer was travelling eastbound when it attempted to make a U-turn and failed to yield the right of way to westbound traffic. The freightliner was struck by a 1999 Chevy pickup truck. The driver of the truck sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital by EMS, Nacogdoches P.D said. The driver of the freightliner was not injured in the accident.

The Traffic Division is assisting in the investigation. The roadway was closed for several hours following the incident, but has since been reopened.
