EMORY, Texas — Officials are investigating after a person was found dead in a vehicle Thursday evening.
According to the Emory Volunteer Fire Department, around 5:50 p.m., officials were called to the pavilion at the local park and found a person dead in a car, along with a "hazardous container."
Authorities shut down Alexander St. and North St. while HAZMAT was called to the scene. The EVFD says they then opened the car door and safely mixed absorbent and sand with the liquid mixture that was in the container. The HAZMAT crew arrived on scene and took possession of the container for disposal.
"Prayers for the family and first responders that worked the incident last night," the EVFD said.
