1 dead after truck goes off road before hitting trees, overturning in Nacogdoches

The identity of the driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — One person is dead following a crash in Nacogdoches.

According to officials, the Nacogdoches Police and Fire Departments responded to a one-vehicle wreck Friday afternoon in the 2000 block of Old Tyler Rd. involving a commercial vehicle. 

"Other motorists were on scene and had helped remove the driver from the vehicle, which was leaking diesel fuel," authorities said. "The driver was deceased upon arrival."

Initial reports indicate the truck was headed southbound on Old Tyler Rd. when it used the turn lane to pass other vehicles, but went off the roadway where it struck trees and rolled.

The identity of the driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
