CHANDLER, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the pilot who was killed in a plane crash on the shore of Lake Palestine in Henderson County last Friday night.
DPS Sgt. Adam Albritton said 79-year-old Jimmie A. Blackwell, of Cedar Park, was behind the wheel of the plane that crashed.
An FAA spokesperson said Blackwell's single-engine Vans RV12 crashed on the south shore of Lake Palestine after it took off from Tyler Pounds Regional Airport in Tyler around 2:30 p.m. Friday. Blackwell was the only one on board.
NTSB is leading the investigation and will give further updates.
