Curtis William Taylor, a 31 year old Longview man, was arrested on Friday afternoon after hitting a cat with a bat after it scratched his puppy.
The Longview Police Department was called about the cat's injury on September 27. The cat was taken to 812 Gilmer Rd. to be treated.
When an officer arrived on the scene, she found the cat with a swollen left eye and blood covering her nose.
Police found out that Taylor became angry with the cat for scratching his puppy's nose and attacking the puppy for a second time.
Taylor struck the cat with baseball bat, causing serious injuries.
The veterinarian said the cat had a fracture on the left side of her skull and its left eye had to be removed. The cat is now recovering with her owner, John Mills.
Taylor is currently in the Gregg County Jail without bond.
