Police identify man accused of firing gunshots inside Tyler home

Chandler Haught, 22, of Tyler, is charged with six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

TYLER, Texas — Police have identified the man accused of firing gunshots in a Tyler home that had several children inside Friday morning.

Chandler Haught, 22, of Tyler, is charged with six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the shots fired incident in a home in the 900 block of West First Street, police said.

Tyler Police Department spokesperson Andy Erbaugh said officers responded to a call around 9 a.m. about shots fired. Officers were able to get several young children and three adults, including Haught, out of the home.

Police said no one was hurt after several shots were fired.

Erbaugh said officers determined that Haught was an acquaintance of the people inside the house, and this was not a random incident. When he arrived in the home, a physical altercation started, which led to the gunshots.

This case remains under investigation and will be forwarded to the Smith County District Attorney's Office.
