1 arrested after leading police on pursuit, possessing 14 pounds of marijuana in Harrison County

"It is great to have such a close working relationship with Sheriff Clinton and the Panola County Deputies," Sheriff BJ Fletcher said.

HARRISON COUNTY, Texas — One man has been arrested after leading officers on a dangerous pursuit and possessing drugs in Harrison County on early Wednesday morning.

At 2 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Panola County officials began a pursuit on Hwy 59 north with an enhanced Dodge Durango SRT.

Officials eventually lost sight of the vehicle due to speed. The pursuit was later picked up by Marshall police after seeing the driver getting gas near I-20 in Marshall.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as LaMonte Deljuan Lester-Terry, 26, of Detroit, Michigan.

After some time, the driver lost control of his vehicle and caused major wreckage in front of Ward Plaza.

This initiated a foot pursuit leading officers to discover Terry hiding in a wooded area with the help of a K-9.

Terry was taken into custody and a search of his vehicle led officers in discovering 14 pounds of marijuana, 20 cases of promethazine, 1 1/2 pounds of mushrooms and 57 grams of THC vapes.

Terry is being charged with evading arrest and criminal mischief by the Marshall Police and 20 counts of possession of dangerous drugs by the Harrison County Sheriff's Office.

"It is great to have such a close working relationship with Sheriff Clinton and the Panola County Deputies, and with Chief Carruth and the Marshall Police Officers," Sheriff BJ Fletcher said.
