KILGORE (KYTX) - Move aside large metropolitan cities, a small Texas town will be a new superhero's home base.
Cross the Lines Films, a Hollywood-based film production company, chose Kilgore as the location for its next superhero movie.
Kilgore resident Douglas Lee said he's excited about Kilgore being the setting for a hero film. He said Kilgore's history and landmarks are fitting for the production and hopes it will bring new business into East Texas.
"If they can get that here maybe they can get more studios to come," Lee said. "It's an opportunity for Kilgore."
Logan Cross, CEO and President of Cross the Line Films, said he wanted to make movies outside of Los Angeles. Cross felt Kilgore had a "welcoming small town feel," perfect for his upcoming movie "Nightshadow." The superhero in this movie is a court reporter by day and a vigilante by night.
Cross said this project has been in the works for years, and viewers should expect expect great action scenes and stunts.
Filming begins in April and the movie is set to release July 2017.
