KILGORE, Texas — Kilgore College issues statement to students regarding the Coronavirus.

On Wednesday, Kilgore College released a statement regarding the coronavirus and preventative measures students should take:

  • If you traveled over Spring Break, please self-monitor your health. Take your temperature at least twice a day and seek medical treatment should you develop a fever or respiratory issues. This is especially important for individuals who took a cruise, flew on a commercial airline, or traveled to California, Washington, or New York.
  • If you have fever, please stay home until you have been fever free for at least 24 hours. Call or email your instructors to work out extensions or alternate learning arrangements.
  • When on campus or anywhere in public, wash your hands regularly. Use hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol when washing is not possible.
  • Do not touch your face – consciously keep clear of your eyes, mouth, and nose.
  • Avoid shaking hands with and/or hugging others. Distance yourself from individuals who are sick.
  • Avoid using another person's phone, and do not let others use your phone unless you are capable of cleaning it before further use. Do not share drinks with others.
  • Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. It is best to use a tissue and then immediately throw it away. If a tissue isn’t available, cough or sneeze into your elbow.
  • Wipe down any computer keyboard and mouse you use with cleaning wipes containing 10% bleach or a virus killing disinfectant.

According to Kilgore College, they are in daily contact with the Texas Department of State Health Services and are monitoring all communications from the CDC and local health departments.
