LUFKIN, Texas — CHI St. Luke's announced new visitation restrictions Tuesday to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the Lufkin area.
The visitation policy is meant to meet the stay-at-home order guidelines set by Harris County.
According to CHI St. Luke's, the hospital is adopting the following visitation guidelines:
- No visitors will be allowed in the hospital.
- Exceptions will be managed by medical decision makers in the areas of: end-of-life, pediatric, NICU, labor & delivery, and patients who need language services. However, under no circumstances are children under the age of 18 allowed in our facilities.
- Other exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
The hospital urges people to use FaceTime, Skype, phone conversations or other options to talk to their loved ones.
There will be greeters at the entrance who will ask people basic questions to ensure people who might spread the virus do not come inside.
This includes:
- Healthcare workers with flu-like symptoms, including fever, cough or soar throat
- People who have traveled to high-risk areas for COVID-19 or had contact with a person known to be infected with COVID-19
Any patients who are coughing will be asked to wear a mask.
