Former Tyler TV Executive Frank Melton died just after midnight Thursday. Melton's death comes just two days after he lost his bid for to a renomination to a second term as Mayor of Jackson, Mississipi. The former KLTV Channel 7 president and general manager had a history of heart problems. The 60-year-old mayor had faced a second trial beginning next week on federal civil rights charges in a vigilante-style raid on a duplex he considered a crackhouse.
