TYLER, Texas — More than 200 students and alumni from The University of Texas at Tyler had the chance to score discounted clothes from JC Penny in Tyler as part of their 'Suit Up' event.

All clothing that was considered work attire was on sale, including suit jackets and business dresses.

"They've included our including briefcases this year, jewelry, handbags," said Francine Durr, the Career Success Coach for The University of Texas at Tyler. "Also the nursing students, they are able to purchase scrubs because that is their career and professional dress."

All items that are regarded as professional ware were up to 60% off.

This is the second time that UT Tyler has partnered with JC Penny to help their students and alumni.

"Our job is to help them with their career success journey, help them prepare for when they leave UT Tyler for their careers," Durr explained. "A part of that is the way you're dressed."

Many of the students who attended are about to enter the workforce and were grateful for the opportunity to get discounts.

"If I hadn't heard about this opportunity, I would probably be going to Goodwill or, you know, Hunger for Hope or something like that to try and find what I need for cheaper," senior Hannah Hinrichsen said.

There is plans to do another Suit Up event in the spring.
