LONGVIEW (KYTX) -- East Texas Regional Airport in Longview will host a ribbon cutting Tuesday morning, recognizing the end of a two-year, $4.5-million renovation project.
Upgrades to the airport include more restrooms, a larger waiting area for outbound passengers, a new jet bridge and an improved baggage claim area, among others. 90% of the project's funding came from a Federal Aviation Administration grant. Gregg County covered the rest of the cost.
The terminal was originally constructed in 1946 and had two renovations prior to this one.It is named in honor of Gregg County Judge Henry Atkinson, and it will be re-dedicated in his name at Tuesday's ceremony.
KSA Engineers in Longview led the project's design, which began in 2012.
