WASHINGTON D.C. (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH/KYTX) - Today ‘The Heroes Flight' veterans started their day at Arlington National Cemetery, where they watched the Changing of the Guard, and then four of them laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns.

The veterans also toured the Marine Memorial, and are making their way throughout the World War II Memorial. Tonight they will tour the capitol.

On Monday, hundreds of people lined the street in front of the Fresh Store in Tyler to send off the 9th Brookshire's honor flight.

27 veterans kissed their loved ones goodbye for the trip of a lifetime.

Brookshire's has taken nearly 275 veterans on honor flights from East Texas.
