DPS: Arkansas man killed in Cass County crash

An Arkansas man is dead following a two-vehicle crash in Cass County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, around 2 p.m., Tuesday, troopers responded wreck located on US Highway 59 in Cass County, just north of Linden.

The preliminary crash reports indicated the driver of an SUV, identified as Jordan Pierce, 28, of White Hall, was traveling south on US 59 when he lost control and drove into the path of a semi, driven by Dametrich Evans, 48, of Vivian, Louisiana.

DPS says Evans attempted to take evasive action but was unable to avoid the collision. Officials say the roadways it was raining when the accident occurred. 

As a result of the crash, Pierce was taken to a local hospital and is stable. A passenger in Pierce's vehicle, identified as Billy Buck Pierce, 53, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, was taken to a Northeast Texas medical center, where he died.

Evans was not injured in the crash. 

The investigation is ongoing.
