After nearly 20 years as a journalist in East Texas, CBS19 anchor Dana Hughey is retiring.
Dana is saying goodbye to news to spend more time with her three children and husband.
“This truly was a gut wrenching decision to make," Dana said. "CBS19 is like a second family to me and they’ve been incredible to me while wrestling with this decision, but in the end, I felt like it was time to devote more time to our children.”
"The CBS19 team will miss having Dana around. We understand her desire to spend more time with her family. We wish her all the best!" said Vicki Bradley, News Director.
Dana is a graduate of Texas A&M University and has held several positions during her career in news, including running the assignment desk and her current role as managing editor.
It’s a position that has allowed Dana to help mentor journalists just getting into the field.
When she looks back at her seven years at CBS19, Dana says she has many fond memories:
I enjoyed many years of Fit City success stories as our community came together to get healthy and promote that initiative. I am also proud of our work to help promote and raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network and all the incredible families I had the pleasure to meet during the CMN Celebration who have benefited these past seven years and those who work with CMN.
She’s also enjoyed being part of the Rose Festival as an emcee and parade host.
Dana’s last day will be December 6. Be sure to tune in at 6 p.m. as we say farewell!
