RAINS COUNTY, Texas — The Rains County Sherrif's Office confirmed an officer is on leave following a use of force incident against an inmate.
Rains County Sheriff Michael Hopkins said Texas Rangers were requested to investigate an incident involving a sergeant wherein excessive force was used against the inmate. After the investigation, Hopkins said an internal complicate investigation will be conducted concerning the incident.
The sergeant has been placed on administrative leave per RCSO policy until the investigation is complete.
No other information was released at this time. The investigation is currently ongoing. CBS19 will update this article as we learn more.
