LUFKIN, Texas — The Lufkin Police Department arrested a suspect who allegedly barricaded himself inside a home for almost two hours at 1403 Briarwood Drive.
According to the LPD, officers were called to the scene at about 10 a.m. Tuesday morning after a report of a man dragging a woman by her hair into the home.
Police identified the suspect as 25-year-old Billy Dyson.
By the time police arrived at the scene, the woman had gotten away from the man and was in a neighbor's yard crying.
Meanwhile, police say Dyson had barricaded himself inside the home and refused officers' commands to come outside. More than 15 minutes after negotiations began, Dyson opened a front window and yelled at the officers. He also used his finger to make a gun, putting it to his head and made a trigger-pull motion. Afterward, he went back into the home.
Police say Dyson came to the front door 15 minutes later wielding a metal pipe. However, he did not exit the home.
The Special Response Team arrived at the scene and used two canisters of tear gas. After the second canister, Dyson exited the home through a side window. He was taken into custody at about 11:50 a.m., although he allegedly attempted to resist arrest.
Dyson was booked into the Angelina County Jail on charges of assault/family violence, unlawful restraint and resisting arrest.
According to police, during a search of the home, officers found Dyson used furniture from the home to barricade the front door. He also barricaded a hallway using head and foot boards from beds.
