SMITH COUNTY, Texas — One man is in critical condition after a shooting in Smith County on Wednesday morning.
Deputies from the Smith County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting in the 20900 block of County Road 4129 at 6:30 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies found Rogieys Simmons, 67, was shot in the upper body area while standing at his front door.
According to deputies, Simmons had been in an argument with two men prior to the shooting. The two men drove away in an unknown vehicle on County Road 4129.
Simmons is currently undergoing surgery and is in critical condition, according to the Smith County Sheriff's Office. Smith County Investigators and the Crime Scene Unit are investigating.
