HOUSTON — A Houston man will likely spend the rest of his life in prison for raping two young girls and recording the assaults on video.
U.S. District Court Judge Kenneth M. Hoyt sentenced George Michael Granados, 32, to a total of 1,200 months -- or 100 years -- in federal prison.
Granados was already a convicted sex offender when he pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of children last July.
“One hundred years is justice. Granados stole the innocence of two children, young girls he knew and were often entrusted to his care,” U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani. “He betrayed them in the most horrific and despicable manner, all for his own deviant sexual desire."
During the hearing, the father of one of the children expressed his horror at the crime and described the pain it's caused his family.
“What Granados did to those two little girls is abominable and unforgivable,” Special Agent in Charge Douglas Williams of the FBI Houston field office said. “As a convicted rapist, Granados should have never had access to those children. Today’s sentence is partial justice for his victims whose innocence he stole and trust he violated."
In February 2022, law enforcement found three videos and nine images showing the assaults on Granados' electronic devices. The feds say his face, heavily tattooed neck, arms and torso led to his positive identification.
"This massive sentence makes it clear – if you try to destroy our precious kids through such victimization and abuse, we will destroy your freedom by showing you only prison walls for decades to come," Hamdani said.
At the time he raped the two children, Granados was already a registered sex offender with a prior conviction for sexual assault.
The FBI conducted the investigation along with the Liberty County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers.
"It’s precisely the young, innocent and vulnerable victims for whom our agents will continue to investigate some of the most difficult and emotionally taxing crimes," Williams said.
