SAN JACINTO COUNTY, Texas — A man suspected in a burglary and arson case was taken into custody Thursday evening after an hours-long standoff with multiple law enforcement agencies in San Jacinto County, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
Editor's note: A previous version of this story indicated that the man was a murder suspect. That information came from the San Jacinto County Sheriff's Office. The Polk County Sheriff's Office later clarified that the man is not wanted for murder at this time.
The San Jacinto Sheriff's Office said Friday morning that Tyler Lance Williams has been charged with burglary of a habitation and that the Onalaska Police Department is investigating.
The Polk County Sheriff said the case stems back to a house fire on Saturday, Dec. 23. After the fire, the neighbors filed a missing persons report for a person who lived in the home and it was determined that the fire was intentionally set, according to the sheriff.
A vehicle connected to the man suspected in that case was located in San Jacinto County on Thursday around 9 a.m. PCSO said it reached out to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office which provided SWAT support after the man barricaded himself in a home. The suspect ultimately surrendered without incident around 5 p.m. and no injuries were reported.
The Polk County sheriff said weapons were found in the home the suspect was barricaded in, but he came out unarmed.
The man was expected to be taken to the Polk County Jail.
The state fire marshal's office is investigating the arson part of the case.
