OVERTON, Texas — A toddler has been injured after an accidental shooting in Smith County.
Rusk County emergency management coordinator Patrick Dooley confirmed to CBS19 a 2-year-old was injured in a shooting in Overton. The child is now in stable condition and undergoing surgery at a Shreveport hospital, according to Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith.
Smith confirmed the shooting took place on County Road 29 in the Overton area of Smith County. The child was dropped off at the Overton Fire Department and was airlifted to a Louisiana hospital for treatment, Smith added.
