RUSK COUNTY, Texas — Law enforcement agencies confirmed that three arrests have been made in connection to human remains found in a burning vehicle this week.
Nathaniel Hall has been arrested for capital murder. According to the Rusk County Sheriff's Office, during the early morning hours of Sunday, Sept. 1, officials were called to the area of CR 4132 and CR 4135, near Miller Lake, on reports of a vehicle fire. Once the fire was extinguished, a closer examination vehicle revealed human remains inside. The victim was identified as 20-year-old Kameron Montre Anderson. An autopsy confirmed that Anderson had been shot several times.
Hall was identified as a possible suspect following a joint investigation between the Smith County Sheriff's Office and Rusk County Sheriff's Office alongside the Texas Rangers.
Hall also had an unrelated active arrest warrant for a assault. On Sept. 4, a patrol officer with Tyler police conducted a traffic stop with five individuals, one of which was Hall, officials said. Hall was armed with a 9mm handgun and an AR15 rifle in the back seat of the vehicle, both of which were determined to be stolen. He was arrested at the scene.
Hall was allegedly uncooperative with law enforcement during an interview, and was later booked into Smith County Jail on the warrant for his arrest. Hall was reportedly overheard making a phone call to his sister after his booking, wherein he told her she needed to "clean up" because he was in jail.
Detectives executed a search warrant for a residence on CR 2160 in Troup on Sept. 5. On the evening of the suspected murder, gunshots were allegedly heard as Hall and the victim were outside of the residence. An execution of the search warrant found several shell casings and bullets in the property, some of which appeared to be the same bullets loaded in Hall's AR15.
Law enforcement officers spoke with Hall's mother and sister, and determined that on the evening of the murder Hall had been hanging out with friends, including an unidentified juvenile and woman identified as Jasmine Williams. It was also reported that a witness overheard the group talking about potentially robbing someone.
A Smith County juvenile probation officer obtained a directive to apprehend the juvenile for his connection to the murder. The juvenile was located an apartment complex on Shiloh Road in Tyler by law enforcement agencies and attempted to run away, but was arrested shortly after by Tyler P.D and transported to the Smith County Juvenile Detention Center. An additional directive to apprehend was applied for capital murder.
After locating the juvenile, detectives learned Williams' address. A search warrant was obtained to search her residence for evidence relating to the homicide. After completing the warrant, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Williams for capital murder, law enforcement said.
On Friday evening, Williams was surrendered to law enforcement by her mother. She remains in Smith County Jail on a $1 million bond.
Hall is in Smith County Jail on a $2 million bond.
Law enforcement is continuing to investigate, and CBS19 will update this article as more information is released.
