Tyler Mayor Don Warren will award Jammin' Jimmy Olson with the key to the city for his 25 years of service to the community this Friday in Tyler.

Since 1999, Olson has made an impact in the community helping those in need with several fundraisers. His annual Ton of Toys Toy Drive began in Houston which he later brought the popular fundraiser to Tyler in 2019.

Every holiday, the toy fundraiser has provided many children with gifts across several nonprofits such as Toys for Tots, PATH, and Tyler-Smith County Child Welfare Board.

"This annual event, benefiting Toys for Tots, has become a beacon of hope during the holiday season, providing countless children with joy and the gift of play. Jimmy's dedication to this cause has made a lasting impression, bringing smiles to the faces of children and families in need," said the City of Tyler.

Another fundraiser Olson created was the Spring Food & Diaper Drive for PATH (People Attempting to Help) which has impacted many families in need by providing essential sustenance and support.

Olson also recognized the importance of education in the Tyler area, so he began the Stuffing The Bus School Supply Drive, which gathered and distributed school supplies needed to ensure students excelled in school.

Jimmy’s Holiday Toy & Food Drive is this Friday, Dec. 8 from 8 a.m. to Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. at the Wlamart Supercenter located at 6801 S. Broadway Ave., in Tyler.
