TYLER, Texas — The City of Tyler Districts 1, 3 and 5 have open positions for the city council. The election will be May 4th.
Here's a list of who's running for the empty seats.
District 1
Linda Sellers
Sellers has served as the District 1 council member for two terms from 2015-'17 and 2017-'19. She has been a resident and small business owner in District 1 for the last 20 years. Some of her past positions include Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce Chairman, Planning and Zoning Commissioner, Traffic Task force, and Tyler Economic Development Council Board Member.

District 3
Shirley McKellar
McKellar is a Tyler Native. She is a retired U.S. Army nurse. McKellar previously ran for U.S. House District 1 unsuccessfully as a Democrat four times against U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Tyler, most recently in November.
"The city council woman that I will be will have a voice for all the people and I will work closely as a valiant partner with the mayor and other council persons and the city manager by taking advantage of my experience."

Pamela Phoenix
Phoenix is a business owner and a city of Tyler Planning and Zoning Commission board member. She and her husband own Phoenix Specialty Cakes. Current District 3 council member Ed Moore, who cannot run again because of term limits, has endorsed Phoenix.
"It is my goal to work and help educate the people on what the city has and how it works so that they can maximize their use of its services."

Dalila Reynoso
Reynoso is a Tyler Native who graduated from UT Tyler. She currently lives in District 3. Reynoso is a program administrator for Justice For Our Neighbors East Texas and an immigration advocate.

District 5
Bob Westbrook
Westbrook has served as the District 5 council member for one term from 2017-'19. He has lived in Tyler for 43 years, he owned a 19 year CiCi's Pizza franchisee. Some of his past committee seats include Chairman of the East Texas Food Bank, Chairman of the Northeast Texas Public Health District, Chairman of the Texas Restaurant Association Education Foundation and President of the Texas Restaurant Association.
