CANTON TX. (KYTX) - The Canton Economic Development Corporation, along with the City of Canton, Texas hosted a groundbreaking ceremony today to celebrate the construction of the new Country Inns & Suites Hotel and Conference Center.
“We are very excited about the creation of jobs, the capital investment, the attraction of tourists, and the partnership with one of our great attractions, Splash Kingdom,” said Julie Seymore, Executive Director of the Economic Development Corporation. “We also want to encourage all local attractions, businesses and organizations to capitalize on opportunities for partnering with this hotel and conference center, as well as with each other. The more we work together and pool our resources, the greater impact we create.”
The upper level 3-star Country Inn & Suites project in Canton, Texas is nearly a 9 million dollar investment which will create between 20 and 25 full time jobs. This project will include between 70 and 88 rooms, a 5,000 square foot conference center, and an indoor swimming pool.
The location of the new facility is just to the west of Splash Kingdom Waterpark in Canton Texas. Six acres have been dedicated to the project, with two pads for restaurants and 100 parking places. The Canton Economic Development Corporation and City of Canton are pleased to partner with C & E Group Inc, Splash Kingdom, Dr. John Pino and Jim LaPorte on this almost $9 million capital investment in our great community. A hotel of this caliber and the 5000 sq ft conference center will enhance our ability to attract visitors all month long, growing our main industry -- tourism. We couldn't be more excited about the synergistic relationship with Splash Kingdom, the creation of jobs and the economic impact this will have on local businesses.
