TYLER, Texas — An arrest warrant obtained by CBS19 sheds more light on the recent arrest of a Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Catholic School assistant basketball coach.
Ja'Kael Lockett, 24, was arrested March 4, by the University of Texas at Tyler Police Department after he allegedly entered a woman's apartment, without her consent, and attempted to sexually assault her.
According to the affidavit, on February 24, around 1:30 a.m., Lockett entered the victim's apartment at Liberty Landing by using a master key card and PIN that he took from his girlfriend, a resident assistant, without her knowledge.
While inside the victim's apartment, the affidavit says Lockett sat on the victim's bed, woke her up, grabbed her several times and attempted to kiss her on the mouth without her consent.
"Through the victim's continued resistance against Jakeal Lockett and his sexual advances the victim was able to push Lockett off of her body utilizing her hands, legs and feet until he stood from the bed and began to exit," the arrest warrant affidavit reads.
Lockett then went to his girlfriend's apartment after the incident, according to the affidavit.
Locket remains held in the Smith County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
