TYLER, Texas — Lourdes Esparza made her five-year dream a reality when she decided to open Jewelev, a Mexican-artisan jewelry store located near Downtown Tyler.
Jewelev sells a wide variety of sterling silver 925 jewelry, all created directly from Mexican artisans.
"We work directly with the artisans in Mexico to make sure our customers are getting the best quality," Esparza said.
Jewelev offers customers two different lines to browse between: their Artisan Line and Brilliant Top Coat Line. Their Artisan Line is created by artisans that work on every piece, and their Brilliant Top Coat line offers an extra layer of coating on the the pieces to protect them from tarnishing.
"We are different from the others because we give that special care to you personally," Esparza said. "We take the time to educate our customers on how to clean and take care of their jewelry so it can last a long time."
As inflation continues to rise, it has brought challenges to both consumers and retailers alike. Esparza assured customers that Jewelev will continue to provide jewelry at affordable prices.
“Inflation hits everywhere and [we] try to cut some costs that we don’t need," explained Esparza. "When we receive new items, we adjust the prices a bit but when you come in to shop that will be the best deal you will get."
The success of her business is due to the community support in Tyler. Esparza said that is the main reason why she ensures both her and her business gives back to the community.
"We are very thankful for all the community’s support," Esparza said. "It's important to me to help our community, because our community is what helped us get to where we are now."
In the future, Esparza hopes her business will grow and expand like other businesses in the city. At the moment, she is focusing on taking care of her customers and celebrating Jewelev's upcoming first anniversary in September.
Jewelev will announce their anniversary event on social media. Residents and businesses within the community are welcome to join! Vendors who are interested in participating in the event are encouraged to reach out to Lourdes Esparza.
