TYLER, Texas — The local Better Business Bureau is making sure East Texans are safe from scammers during this holiday season.

As you wrap up your holiday shopping or donations, keep a look out for scammers.

Mechele Mills with the Better Business Bureau said during the holiday season, scammers are trying to gain access to your money and information but BBB is sharing some tips that can help many stay safe from scammers.

Below is a list of top scams you should beaware of:

  1. Misleading social media ads
  2. Gift exchanges on social media
  3.  Holiday themed apps which may contain malware
  4. Fake text messages which claim you've been hacked
  5. Free gift cards
  6. Fake holiday jobs
  7. Lookalike websites
  8. Fake charities
  9. Fake shipping notifications
  10. Bogus advent calendar ads
  11.  Too good to be true deals on your top wish list
  12. Puppy scams
