Puppy found abandoned with injuries inside airport in Indiana

The puppy, named "Boeing" by Speedway Animal Rescue, is now being fostered by a volunteer while the search for his owners is ongoing.

INDIANAPOLIS — A puppy was abandoned at the Indianapolis International Airport Monday morning after an airport security guard said they found him in a carrier.

The puppy was wearing bandages, and there was concern he could have been injured.

Now, volunteers with an animal rescue organization are looking for the owners so they can get answers.

Anna Gerber, president of Speedway Animal Rescue, said the puppy appeared to be 4 to 5 months old.

The organization put a call out for help in a Facebook post, hoping someone would connect them with the owners to find out more about those injuries.

“It’s just important to us so we know, does this dog need pain medication? Did he finish his course of antibiotics?" Gerber said. "What can we do to help? And what pieces of this puzzle can we put together?"

The puppy, named "Boeing" by Speedway Animal Rescue, is being fostered by a volunteer.

Melissa Thorpe told 13News that Boeing is doing well and has plans to take him to the vet to see what kind of care he will need.

Thorpe said she wants to get him in the best possible condition for when he is reunited with his family or adopted into a new forever home.

IMPD is investigating.
