Henderson ISD mourns loss of former longtime superintendent

Former HISD Superintendent Tommy Alexander passed away on Christmas Eve.

HENDERSON, Texas — An East Texas school district is mourning the loss of a former superintendent that passed away on Christmas Eve.

Henderson ISD released a statement after the passing of Tommy Alexander, also known as Coach A.

"Mr. Alexander's 26-year tenure at HISD left an indelible mark on this community. As a coach, maintenance director, assistant superintendent, and finally as superintendent, his dedication to student success and the tradition of excellence was evident," the statement read. "He will be remembered for his commitment to our community and the incredible impact he had on generations of students and staff across East Texas."

Henderson ISD said their thoughts are with Alexander's family during this time and his legacy at the school district will not be forgotten.
