Hawkins Police Department asking public for help after local man with 'big heart for dogs' opened his home to 45 pups

Police say if the man doesn't find homes for the dogs by the end of the week, there is "only one option [they would] rather not mention."

HAWKINS, Texas — The Hawkins Police Department is asking local pet lovers to lend a hand to a man in the area with a big heart for dogs. 

According to the HPD, a Hawkins resident ended up with 45 dogs after bringing them home from a shelter and needs help finding them a home. 

The department noted the man's situation "is a violation in the city," and he has been fined twice already. 

Police say if the man doesn't find homes for the pups by the end of the week, there is "only one option [they would] rather not mention."
