EXPLORING THE CALDWELL ZOO: Meet the tigers

As adults, they still retain their playful personalities. Willie King is "especially fond of his pool," said Shockley.

TYLER, Texas — Meet Willie King and Mika: the two tigers at the Caldwell Zoo!

They have called the zoo home for almost 18 years, after having moved to Texas from the Alexandria Zoo in Louisiana. They originally came to the Caldwell Zoo as a temporary habitat, but they fit in so well, that they found a permanent home at the zoo.

Michelle Shockley, supervisor of mammals, remembers the day they first arrived.

"They were short and stubby and fluffy," said Shockley. "Being cats, they do play with a lot of things, especially as kittens."

As adults, they still retain their playful personalities. Willie King is "especially fond of his pool," said Shockley, and will often splash around, even in cool weather.
