Rolling Stone launches 'In My Room' series to lift music fans' spirits during coronavirus outbreak

The series began with Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson, who inspired the name of the series.

LOS ANGELES — In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, musicians have canceled tens of thousands of concert dates worldwide. In an effort to help musicians reach their beloved fans during this time, Rolling Stone Magazine launched their new "In My Room" series on Instagram TV.

The series will feature musicians of different genres performing their songs from their homes in an effort to brighten the days of their fans and provide musical relief during these trying times.

The first artist featured in the city was Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson, whose 1963 hit "In My Room" inspired the name of the series.

"I hope everyone's okay during this hard time we're all going through," Wilson, 77, said while sitting at his piano inside his California home. "Please take care of yourselves and your families. Love, Brian."

The episode then continued with Brian playing his 1968 hit "Do It Again" and closing with his signature solo song, "Love and Mercy."

Rolling Stone says new episodes of "In My Room" will be released at 2 p.m. CT on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The magazine did not give a list of artists in upcoming episodes but says that the series will feature both legacy and new artists from "across genres and across the globe."
