CBS19 WEATHER: Spring-time gloom is back in East Texas

Check out the latest forecast from the CBS19 Weather Experts.

TYLER, Texas — Good morning East Texas,

After a few days of sunshine, the spring-time gloom is back in East Texas.  Clouds are starting to build in today, and they are not going anywhere anytime soon.  That means there are several chances for rain and thunderstorms through the weekend.  Some of these could be strong to severe, so keep checking back with CBS19 for updates.

Here's your forecast:

TODAY:

Clouds are creeping across the Piney Woods.  This is happening as humidity returns and brings low-end rain chances. Keep an eye to sky if you travelling or live closer to Interstate 30 closer to Texarkana. That area could see a small thunderstorm complex by late afternoon. But most of East Texas will only experience spotty showers through the day.  Otherwise, under a mix of sun and clouds, highs in Tyler will top out in the low 80s.

TOMORROW:

Tomorrow will be the last day that you can leave the umbrella at home for a while.  Skies will be gloomy with clouds overtaking the blue.  But every cloud has a silver lining... East Texas will stay dry through the day.  This will allow afternoon temperatures to rise to the low-to-mid 80s.

THIS WEEKEND:

Rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast at the end of the week.  There is a level 2 risk of severe weather for parts of East Texas on Friday, including Smith county. We appear to stay mostly clear on Saturday, but a few storms could make it to areas near Emory and Canton.  The severe risk returns to all of East Texas on Sunday.  Keep checking back with us for the latest.
