CBS19 WEATHER: Thunderstorm threat Thursday evening

Check out the latest forecast from the CBS19 Weather Experts.

TYLER, Texas — Good evening, East Texas!

We had enough breaks in the clouds for high temperatures to rise into the mid-80s across parts of East Texas. This means it will be another warm and humid night in the piney woods with overnight lows only falling into the upper 60s and low 70s.

Thursday looks like a warm and muggy day but that combination will lead to a lot of instability in the atmosphere which could result in strong to severe thunderstorms Thursday night.

As for the weekend, it might be a good idea to have a plan b in place. Rain and thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and Saturday night could produce a steady and sometimes heavy rain.

Here's your forecast:

TONIGHT:

Expect a mostly cloudy sky overnight with just a slight chance for a shower. A south wind will be fairly light at around 5 to 10 mph as overnight temperatures only fall into the upper 60s and low 70s.

TOMORROW:

Thursday looks to be a carbon copy of Wednesday. Enough sunshine at times to boost the temperature into the mid and even potentially upper 80s. All that warmth, combined with abundant humidity could lead to thunderstorms after sunset Thursday. At this time, the Storm Prediction Center has a marginal to slight risk for severe thunderstorms over East Texas.
