Freezing temperatures for Halloween: What to expect while trick-or-treating

Wind chills will dip into the low to mid 20s to start Halloween, and we will not be warming up much!

TYLER, Texas — Showers and storms remain in the forecast through Wednesday night. The rain should move on out though by early Thursday, leaving us dry for Halloween. 

Behind the front, the coolest weather this fall will arrive. High Pressure is going to move on in behind the big weeping cold front, but it will be bringing in a cold brisk northerly wind with it.

On top of the cold, it will be windy tonight and early Thursday as well. Expect winds chills in the low to mid 20s as we start the day for Halloween. 

Be sure to bundle up the little ones as they wait for the bus and yourself as you start the day. The winds will die down during evening hours though before you send out the trick-or-treaters.

Freeze warnings are out for some of our western counties and will be likely across the entire region for Friday morning. A Freeze Watch is already in place for Friday morning in:

  • Hopkins County
  • Rains County
  • Van Zandt County
  • Henderson County
  • Anderson County

Temperatures are expected to dip down near freezing Thursday and Friday morning. 

It is going to be a chilly night in East Texas for your little trick-or-treaters, so be sure to bundle them up. Temps will be in the mid 40s around 6 PM but down into the upper 30s by 10 PM.

Morning lows are going to stay in the 30s for tonight, Friday morning, and both weekend mornings are well. So be prepared and ready for the cold.  

According to the National Weather Service out of Dallas/Fort Worth These conditions will kill sensitive plants, and residents are advised to protect tender vegetation. Automatic sprinkler systems should also be turned off to avoid creating ice patches on nearby roads, driveways, and sidewalks.
