Tyler Fire Dept. offers training on hands only CPR

The Tyler Fire Department offers free hands only CPR training. Their goal is see as many people as possible trained in the area.

TYLER, Texas — CPR is a quick to learn skill that could save lives, yet not many people know how to do it. That's why the Tyler Fire Department wants to train residents on the technique for hands only CPR in 5 minutes or less.

Matthew Daniel, a firefighter and paramedic with the department, has been teaching CPR for about 15 years. He said last year they trained 500 people, but he's hoping to see double that amount this year.

"Especially with summertime people are out in big groups, a lot of things can happen," he explained.

To learn CPR, you can schedule an appointment by calling the Tyler Administration at 903-535-0022.
