SMITH COUNTY — "Are you ready?" worship pastor Ryan Williams exclaimed into the microphone. "Let's get started!"

At those words, kids excitedly started kicking rainbow soccer balls around in an enclosed field while standing in rows and holding onto different-colored pool noodles. It was the green team against the blue team in this match of human foosball at The Church of Garden Valley's Mega Sports Camp.

Human foosball was just one of many sports-related activities the 300 day campers participated in. From football and basketball to cheerleading and soccer, there was a sport for everyone.

The free annual camp, which serves as the church's Vacation Bible School, has been taking place for five years and serves children entering kindergarten through fifth grade. Williams said about 75 volunteers worked together through the week to make the camp a success.

Kids got a chance to relax and enjoy snow cones and popcorn between games, or kept the fun going and hit the playground.

"My most favorite thing beyond kids coming to know Jesus is just seeing a smile on their face," Williams said. "For some of them, it's their only thing to do away from home during the summer and it's just a great chance for us to connect with our community."
