Statement from Tyler Junior College:

An aggravated robbery was reported by the Tyler Police Department this morning at 1101 E. Lake Street. Because this was within a few blocks of the TJC campus, the TJC police chief issued a timely notification to all students and employees of the College. In addition, TJC has increased its police presence on campus.

Statement from UT Health East Texas:

We have learned from the Tyler Police Department that the victim of this morning’s carjacking was neither a patient nor employee of UT Health East Texas, rather she was parking in the lot to attend class nearby. In light of Monday’s incident, UT Health East Texas has increased security at our East Lake Medical Plaza and around our hospital campus. The safety and security of patients and employees is a top priority.
