NACOGDOCHES COUNTY — Five teenagers were arrested on Monday by the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's office after an ongoing investigation into several car burglaries in the area.

According to authorities, two vehicles were reported to be burglarized in a subdivision close to County Road 816.

Deputies believe that several other vehicles were rummaged through by the suspects, and two handguns and a scope were also reported missing.

While investigating the burglaries, deputies got information that the suspects tried to sell some of the stolen property.

Authorities eventually identified all the suspects and connected them to the car burglaries.

On Monday, warrants for the five suspects were obtained and they were arrested the same day.

Nacogdoches natives, John Dawson, 17, David Montoya, 18, Mason Thurman ,17, Michael Ries ,17, and Aaron Ainsworth, 18, were all booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail.

They were all charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, and Dawson and Montoya got additional charges of Tampering with Evidence.

Deputies have video evidence of the teens being in possession of some of the stolen property while they were trying to sell it.

Authorities also noted that the teens are also suspects in car burglaries that happened earlier in 2018 in a subdivision near Appleby Sand Road.

The sheriff's office is continuing their investigation of the burglaries, and anyone with information or that bought any items from the teens is encouraged to call deputies at 936-560-7777.
