PANOLA COUNTY, Texas — One person is dead and another has been hospitalized following a Thursday afternoon ATV crash in Panola County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, around 4:55 p.m., troopers responded to an ATV crash on County Road 217, about two miles southeast of Beckville.
The preliminary crash report indicates the driver of a 2016 Polaris RZR, identified as Clint Waron Stephenson, 40, of Gary, was traveling south on CR 217 at an unsafe speed and went off the western edge of the roadway.
DPS says Stephenson over-corrected to the left and went into a side-skid.
The ATV then rolled to the right, across the roadway, partially ejecting the Stephenson and his passenger, identified as Kellie Lachelle Davis, 50, of Carthage.
Stephenson was pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Toni Hughes and transported to a Carthage funeral home.
Davis was taken to a Carthage hospital and is reportedly stable.
The crash remains under investigation.
