Longview police investigating fatal hit-and-run on Eastman Road

Longview police found a woman's body on N. Eastman Road in the early morning hours of Wednesday. They believe a pickup vehicle may be involved.

LONGVIEW, Texas — A Longview woman is dead following a hit-and-run early Wednesday morning.

According to the Longview Police Department, the crash occurred around 1:50 a.m., in the 500 block of North Eastman Road.

Officers were called to the after they were told a woman's body was lying in the roadway.

When police arrived on scene, they discovered Melinda McBrook Neal, 58, of Longview, deceased on the road. Officials say McBrook appeared to have been hit by a vehicle.

Authorities believe a black Ford pickup vehicle traveling north may be responsible for Neal's death.

Wednesday morning's fatal hit-and-run is the second in two days after a man was hit and killed on Loop 281, near Birdsong Street, Tuesday morning.
